In cooperation with the Mobile County Emergency Management Agency, the City of Mobile, churches, and charitable organization, Driftwood Housing has assumed a leadership role establishing a warming/cooling shelter in Midtown Mobile.
Currently, our Secondary Emergency Shelter is hosted at the Dearborn YMCA in partnership with the Waterfront Rescue Mission. When temps are above 104 degrees or below 32 degrees, our Secondary Shelter will open its doors to displaced families, couples, and women. We make provisions for dogs, too!
Our Secondary Emergency Shelter houses overnight guests from 6:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. A day center is provided across the street at the Waterfront Rescue Mission where they will be fed breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
